through the fight through the flame through the night through the pain cleanse my skin in the floods of the pouring rain you’re confused false alarms left me here with a heart of stone say farewell to the dreams made yesterday i won’t wait until tomorrow i won’t say rome’s not crumbling i fight and i beg i steal i borrow and when i fight, i fight because i am just a man see my scars watch me bleed risked it all for pride and greed no regrets and no relief from the lives we lead but I won’t stay knocked down forever (I won’t stay) I won’t stay if you surrender i won’t wait until tomorrow I won’t say Rome’s not crumbling I fight and I beg I steal I borrow and when I fight, I fight because I am just a man you tried for so long and said my “innocence is gone” rise up, like the sun and find the strength to carry on I’ve given more, sacrificed now I stand here victimized another wall, another fight i won’t wait until tomorrow I won’t say Rome’s not crumbling I fight and I beg I steal I borrow and when I fight, I fight because I am just a man

Defiance 03:53
tired of the silence being told wait another day small price to pay for defiance mirrors are meant to shatter anyway I’m learning my reflection is made of the wrongs I’ve put you through without an inclination to mend what I have torn in two here’s what left of my world (here i am defiance) I’m finally giving up control (bleed me out defiance) I’m the poison in your veins (here i am defiance) bleed me out/push me in again suddenly I’m awake I’ve been trapped inside another dream counting mistakes I make am I blind or do I choose not to see? but if I concentrate then it might not be too late for me to save some face and it’s neither wrong nor right that you break me down inside and build me up again here’s what left of my world I’m finally giving up control I’m the poison in your veins bleed me out/push me in again alone afraid and torn in two a thousand lies led me to you turning back the hands of time that keep pulling me under drag the thorns across my skin till the blood flows red again save yourself and I’ll resign to live a lie here’s what left of my world I’m finally giving up control I’m the poison in your veins bleed me out/push me in again
3.
Calling Out 04:30
looking up you taste the rain and feel your heart beat again you’ve become something plain resting in a quiet place I’m calling out to you just say my name again take me back to all the places where we once began cross the broken bridge stoke the weary flame and we’ll find our sanctuary turn the page you speak my name jealous of my guilt and shame our story untold my skins turning cold we were born into the grave through laughter and tears through hopes and through fears scars that remind us of yesterday through ashes and chains on wings born from flames here I am calling out your name and I call out to you again you sing softly a sweet refrain you recall me but I’m not the same you’re the only life that remains yet still i call out to you I’m calling out to you just say my name again take me back to all the places where we once began cross the broken bridge stoke the weary flame and we’ll find our sanctuary

about

The Lochness Monster - EP came to life over the course of just about a year, beginning in the summer of 2018. We were beginning to work on writing new material together and having a lot of conversations about the music. We talked a lot about different albums and artists that influenced each of us, sharing songs and styles that spoke to us as individuals. And we jammed. We jammed a lot! We played with sounds that we hadn’t played with before, really wanting to craft something that was ours. Something that was unique, exciting, and honest. That sentiment is what we kept going back to.

The songs that were chosen for this EP allowed us to find ourselves as a band, as individual musicians, and the direction we want to take our music. Each of us wants our music to have lyrics that people can connect with while remaining poetic and thoughtful, and to surround those lyrics with a powerful rock sound with lots of energy and dynamics. Musically we worked to create a sound that was familiar in some ways to our first album, Fables, while also evolving into a sound that was natural to all of the members of the band. After we recorded all the demos for the new songs we decided to work with James Paul Wisner again who recorded and mixed our first album and also Andy VanDette again for mastering, two guys we already had a lot of faith in after working with them on Fables.

This EP is an expression of who we are as a band and as individuals. These songs are born out of stories from our lives, and we want to share them with you. These are our stories. This is who we are. This is Lochness Monster.
